Alzheimer’s Society: Running Man

I directed and was the DoP on this film toward the end of 2017. I love the poem – “Marathon” by E. Ethelbert Miller – and, though it was intensely physical (I climbed Pen Y fan in Wales twice, once with gear) I really enjoyed the shoot.

Trafalgar: When Becky met Jeff

Ok so directing two lightweight faux documentary dramas about bus tours through Europe may not be many people’s idea of an interesting project, or showreel material. But these films were fun to make. I had a gang of four uninhibited actors with an ace crew, and we travelled through France and Italy making something out of not very much. It required imagination, a lack of pretension and a willingness to just muck in.

High point; shooting a romantic scene guerrilla style in old Rome was a real high wire act.

Channel 4: In Your Dreams – montage

I directed and shot these five 10 minute films for Channel 4 daytime about dreams. Initially they just wanted very basic interviews between a dream analyst and her subject, but I pitched them the idea of dramatic reconstructions on a shoe-string and they went for it. I literally had no money but somehow we managed to build a set for the interviews and approach the dramatic moments with what I think was just the right amount of heart (and cheese)
